CEO Paddy Rodgers is running for a stellar cause
On Sunday 1 October CEO Paddy Rodgers is running the Cardiff Half Marathon. He has taken this as an opportunity to raise money for a maritime-related cause: the Royal Observatory Greenwich’s Telescope Appeal.
The project at the world famous Royal Observatory dates back to the 17th century and needs to raise £20,000 ($26,100) to restore the 1896 Altazimuth Pavilion. It has not been used as a working observatory for more than 60 years. Funds raised will also be used to install two hi-tech telescopes and other accessories to gather valuable scientific data, capture and stream images and videos of planetary, lunar, deep sky and solar targets, then share these via learning and research programmes to inspire the next generation of scientists and astronomers.
The goal is to share the images and data with media, schools, universities and other scientific institutions around the world – reaching and inspiring the next generation of scientists and astronomers.
If you want to support this cause, you can access the platform through this link.
